In 1887, Polish ophthalmologist L.L. Zamenhof wanted to reduce the “time and labour we spend in learning foreign tongues” and to foster harmony between people from different countries by creating an “international language”. Thus, Esperanto was born. As the most widely spoken constructed international auxiliary language in the world, Esperanto has up to 2 million speakers worldwide, according to the database Ethnologue published by the Summer Institute of Linguistics.

Inspired by the Esperanto vision, AKVO Hotel aims to be a venue where foreign and domestic travelers could come together in a perfect balance of comfort and luxury. Meaning “water” in Esperanto, AKVO is the river that flows between east and west, between solid stone and transparent glass; the ocean upon which all nations and all peoples are connected.
