Beta offers gastronomes an exciting way to experience Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage with a touch of finesse. The chef reimagines favourites from around the country, often jazzed up by modern touches and soigné plating. The prix-fixe menu Tour of Malaysia, for instance, features smoked duck with nutmeg sorbet from Penang, raw scallops in stink bean consommé from Borneo, and ox tongue toast with buah keluak sauce from Pahang.

GastroMonth Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2023 is the first GastroMonth in Malaysia. The month-long event in June 2023 allows discerning diners to enjoy specially-curated menus at over 40 restaurants recommended in the MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2023.

BETA is a brainchild of five dynamic individuals behind the vibrant Malaysian-inspired Modern European restaurant, Skillet@163. In the Malaysian context, BETA is a royal salutation for kings or sultans, which basically means ‘I’ or ‘me’. BETA is clearly reflected in the mélange of a curated menu that represents the diverse flavours of Malaysian cuisine; quasi-authentic, exquisite and yet under-represented at times. BETA journeys into four distinct regions of Malaysia demarcated as North, South, East and West to bring a newly redefined gastronomic experience that embodies the hallmark palates of the different districts. The ingredients and various unique elements paired together take you on a tantalizing tour across all corners of Malaysia.
