We’re welcoming a remarkable culinary force — Kenichiro Yamauchi, Owner-Chef of PHYEON — to Gēn 根 on 6th March 2026 (Friday), joining Johnson Wong for a one-night-only collaboration dinner at RM550++ per person.
Born in Miyazaki and trained at Tsuji Culinary Institute, Chef Kenichiro is rooted in classical French technique, guided by natural farming, animal welfare, and his signature philosophy of high-voltage pure aging. Formerly of RESTAU K YAMAUCHI — recognised by Gault & Millau in 2019 — he unveiled PHYEON in December 2024 as the bold evolution of his craft.
This evening marks his exploration of Malaysia’s terroir — where Japanese precision meets Penang’s local produce. Together with Chef Johnson, expect a menu that reflects shared philosophy, deep respect for ingredients, and meticulous craftsmanship in every dish.
